Under the overture

An operatic burlesque

Music by Giaochino Rossini
Libretto and Musical Adaptation by Ronald Kaehler
Orchestrations and Additional Arrangements by Jeremy Franklin Goodman

Now available for production!

Under the Overture features the music of Rossini’s glorious operatic overtures in a way you’ve never heard (or seen) before!

It all takes place at a provincial opera house in the nineteenth century, a rough and tumble time when audiences were fierce, but singers were fiercer. And no singers more ferocious than the Opera Freneticco.

What happened the night these lunatics played to Rossini himself makes for a wild evening that crescendos to a slapstick finale during the overture of the opera they're about to perform: Barber of Seville.

Set spinning to a sparkling score adapted from Rossini's overtures, Under the Overture is a timely twist on a timeless farcical trope. It's all about the old guard giving way to the new –– but not without a knock-down, drag-out fight.

It's diva vs. divo and may the loudest voice win!
